ABOUT Homebirth
How to get started

You have decided to have a homebirth and now you wonder what to do next. It is important to contact me or another homebirth midwife of your choice first and see who has availability around your due date. We will ask you to give us  a good personal, medical and surgical history to establish if you are eligible for the HSE service. If you want to check it out yourself, go to the HSE website for homebirth and look into table 1-4 for in- and exclusion criteria. Once it is clear that your are eligible you can choose between various packages of service and the midwife will make an appointment for booking once that is established. On the first visit we will fill out the application papers to the HSE and send them off to be signed by the District Manager of the HSE. After all that is established you are booked for a homebirth, unless your health changes in pregnancy and you need medical attention. There will be risk assessment throughout your pregnancy by the midwife. The amount of visits and intensity of care will depend on the package you decide for.

If you have any further questions get in touch with me and I will try to answer as best as I can.
